SERVICES
WHAT WE DO
Palliative Care is a personal matter; the type of care and support provided is dependant upon individual wishes and needs. The Westlock & District Palliative Care Society:
-
Offers respite to caregivers;
-
Visits patients where they are; or where they feel most comfortable.
-
Provide friendship and companionship to those who might otherwise be alone; and
-
Distributes care giver guides upon request.
-
Provides access to sleeping chairs which can convert to a bed for overnight stays.
-
Provide access to the “serenity Room”.
SERENITY PLACE
This special room is located in the east wing of the Westlock Healthcare Center. This room is designated for the use of families of terminally ill patients at any hour of the day. This private room is intended to act as a sanctuary for family members by giving them a space to rest, relax and simply step away and to rejuvenate.
A memorial plaque in the Serenity room is used to record the names of lost loved ones.
